Double or triple glazing? The ultimate guide to choice.
I will give you all the answers to the most frequently asked questions, such as:
o Better double glazing or triple glazing?
o Do I need triple glazing to solve my hearing problems?
o What is low-emission glass? etc.
Are you ready; Let's go!
In this guide you will learn what the differences are between double glazing and triple glazing.
We will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of one another, thermal and acoustic insulation, and when it is really useful to have triple glazing inside your home.
Double or triple glazing? What choice?
Hi, I'm Athena, Civil Engineer at STYLETECH.sa, and a few days ago, searching the internet, I found several ads of this type:
If you buy windows from us we will give you triple glass!
Windows: ******** gives you triple glazing!
Free PVC glazing for all windows! and so on ...
In the same frames without counting the extra weight to the glass?
Statically unacceptable.
My question is always the same:
How do you know that I really need triple glazed windows?
In most cases, a triple glazing is not only useless, but sometimes even harmful to your windows!
In a very short time I will explain the reasons, now let's start with the definitions.
How are double glazed windows produced?
Double-glazed windows (double glazed windows) are double-glazed windows spaced apart by a spacer channel into which metal salts (or gases) are introduced into this path to absorb moisture.
How are triple glazing produced?
The term "triple glass", by contrast, denotes a window frame with three sheets of glass coupled and separated by two channel spacers.
Unlike double glazing, triple glazing guarantees greater thermal insulation, in fact it is recommended in places where the window should be isolated from the cold as much as possible.
Is it always better to have triple glazing?
As I mentioned earlier, triple glazing is sometimes very dangerous for your window.
Let's start with an example:
I'm going to buy a beautiful car for example B..W.
The seller says before I can sign my contract:
"You like it, I give you a basket to hang behind the car.
You know, it serves a lot of things: when it comes to shopping it can fill it, when it comes to holidays it can load it and so on ...
There is only one small detail: the stroller is fixed.
Yes, that means it cannot be removed. "
But honestly, what to do with a basket?
It makes me consume more tires, full of it, and it's a really bad aesthetic.
I have given you this example to make it clear that it is useless to equip something with an optional one that does not, in fact, sometimes make things worse.
When are triple glazing really useful?
Triple glazing is only useful in two cases:
1) If you live in a very cold place (for example in the high mountains).
2) If you have a north enclosure exposed to very strong air (however, even a double glazing may still be sufficient in this case).
3) If you live in a very noisy place (for example near highways, or train stations, near stadiums, etc.).
In all other cases, double glazing is always recommended, depending on your needs, choosing a low-emitting glass, anti-noise glass or four-season glass.
The important thing is that the spacer that separates the two windows is made of insulating material (pvc heat), otherwise it will form condensation on the windows and then on the construction.
What are the disadvantages of triple glazing?
Why in most cases is triple glass completely useless if not harmful to the window? For these simple reasons:
1) Because the window with triple glazing is much heavier. The weight weighs on the material: opening and closing wear out faster.
2) Because the glass, which is less transparent, makes you lose some brightness.
3) Because in most cases, a double glass reaches all adequate values, both thermal, acoustic and safety.
Better Double Glazing or Triple Glazing?
A properly insulated glass window represents a much better solution than double glass panels.
What is the thickness of the mosque?
The thickness of the glass depends on the result you want to achieve.
Standard double glazed windows with standard performance shall be at least 24 mm and shall consist of: two 4 mm glasses with a central air chamber of 16 mm.
Do I need triple glazing for acoustic problems?
A double glazed window is sufficient for the correct installation of the headset. Triple glazing is not required for normal living conditions.
There are actually double glare glasses that reach the price of acoustic reduction of a triple glass.
However, in order to solve the noise problem, it is not enough to focus on the glass, but we must also pay special attention to the type of window (one door is better than two, the thickness of the frame as the L-shaped frame is preferred) and the more importantly, to the appropriate personnel of the installation project.
Conclusions
The next time you walk into a store and hear you say "... but we'll give you triple glass", watch out! It's just a commercial action!
Before deciding whether to install a double glazing or triple glazing window, the company you are targeting should make a personalized assessment of your needs and living environment (exposure, altitude, climate zone, etc.) and perform the sound test. and more at your store.
This is there with us, and applies to our frames with incredible results up to 52dB!
